Hate or love this car, accuse it of anything but reliability.
The only con to this solid ride is the fact that it was equipped with a 5 speed transmission and less that 300 hp (263) from a 4.7L V8 engine. No doubt a fuel guzzler.
Apart from these, the Lexus GX470 5th gen is an all rounder. Infact, I call it a V8 Land Cruiser Prado.
Yee, it shares a structural build platform with the Prado, the 4Runner and the FJ Cruiser.
I’ve been particularly opportuned to own quite a few over the course of the years. After the Range Rover V8s, I’ll gladly pick a Lexus GX470. Gives you that comfort ride of a the RX350 crossover and the gigantic off road ability of the land cruiser all in one.
Don’t fret when you see folks upgrade or change theirs to look like the Prado. It’s basically the same car, just a bigger engine.
