VeryDarkMan Knows How To Court Controversy For Social Media Clout

I don’t fancy talking about trending issues but this VDM matter kept playing in my head.

DM came out from Kuje and saw that it seemed the world had moved on and left him behind.  Social media users were talking about other issues as if he didn’t matter anymore. This worried VDM. He needed his relevance back so he could be on everyone’s lips again.

The social media was awash with the talk about Saidaboj., Finidi with Osinmen.  Later, Nedu and Yvonne matter snaked in..

VDM is a clever ‘chess player’ when it comes to placing himself in the social media spotlight where he would be the cynosure of all eyes. He watched keenly and waited patiently for the right time to latch on to the prey of fame.

    VDM

    Then, along came Chivido!
This was the right moment to take advantage of and take that leap. Felinely, like a cat, he took the desired dive and snatched the moment off the grip of both the bride and the groom. Davido and Chioma had both dominated the media space for days. VDM knew that he could tap from their relevance to crawl back into the spotlight before someone else would.

He decided to take on a few influential people at the party so as to provoke a reaction and draw the attention to himself. Iyabo Ojo was the whale amongst all the people he’d had issues with in the past. She has a strong fan base. If he picked on her, the media would go up in flames and there would spark a chain reaction. There was also the need to take on other influencers with a pocketful of fans to further provoke them to react and talk about him rather than the event. So, he grabbed the whale, took a few sharks of skit makers along and tongue lashed them all.

VDM claimed that Iyabo was not invited to the main party even though he knew that she was. What he dearly wanted was the attention. Now that the party was over and the bride with her groom would be leaving the country, someone must take the centre stage. VDM perfectly positioned himself to fit into that enviable spot.

Provoked by his claim, Iyabo sprang out of her shell and began to provide proof that she was actually a guest at the main party. Little did she know that like a pun in a game of chess, VDM had successfully used her to catapult himself back to the social media relevance. He was already on the lips of everyone including the so-called skit makers and bloggers. How could Iyabo not have known that VDM was only using her? For crying out loud, VDM was sitting with Cubana Chief Priest who was at the venue all through. What makes Iyabo think that VDM hadn’t been whispered to that she’d been present at the main party? Did she not notice that after providing the proof, the young man had continued to spit fire as if the proof didn’t matter?

Again, except Iyabo herself has been the back up chess player through the eyes of VDM, I wonder why in the world she’d post a video of herself stuck in the traffic? What was her intent? Was it to deceive her followers? What prompted her to do that video? Are we not the gullible puns in this game of chess here? Aren’t these guys using our heads like this? Aren’t there some bigger shots at the helm of affairs using these celebrities to keep us grossly entertained so as to forget our misery?

Well, let’s assume that this whole thing isn’t a script after all. How did Paulo fall cheaply into this trap? How come he didn’t smell the rat? I was really shocked when he took the bait too after Iyabo had taken hers.

VDM was overjoyed as the prey got entangled one after the other. He was winning because the more the discourse lingers, the longer his reign at the top of this media uproar. Obi Cubana, a giant blue whale didn’t look deeply before he swam by and unknowingly heightened the drama.

As a business man, Obi felt provoked by the fact that VDM who hasn’t spent a dime to advertise himself, was getting more than half the media attention that Odogwu Bitters had got with all the publicity.

VDM must have been an ardent reader of  THE 48 LAWS OF POWER by Robert Greene. He didn’t give room for Obi to take his shine. As the rave of the moment, he would continue to be on everyone’s lips until he puts out the candle himself or it burns out on its own accord.

VDM ‘s response to Obi was strategically woven. “What have you done for the youths?” This immediately puts Obi against the angry and hungry youths who would see VDM as their sympathizer. “Do you think you have money? Go and see real money in the hands of northerners. Aside from giving people alcohol to drink, what impact did you make in the lives of the poor? You get money, I no get pass mouth.” This was the knockout. The almajiri in Kano would gladly raise VDM on their shoulders over this comment as naturally the poor always empathize with the underdog in every situation. Here, he’d not only smartly condemned the consumption of alcohol which is frowned at in the north, he’d also pointed a finger of scorn at Obi’s ‘source of wealth which in no way could be compared to the legitimate wealth of an average northerner. Subtly, by adding the Hausa language in his speech, he cleverly drew a line of mischievous comparison between the Igbo trader and his Hausa counterpart.

This guy VDM, like Saidaboj has crept into this cyberspace to dominate for now. The duo share similar trait of give-me-I-give–you back. They enjoy the social media brawl because of the fame and the pecuniary gains associated with it. This is why they enjoy being criticized by bigger fishes because it grows their social status. Have you not noticed that because big boys like Obi Cubana have come into the picture, VDM has totally ignored Blessing CEO? He thinks of her as very inconsequential because the whales are now in his net. Like Saidaboj, he only listens to his own advice and loyal to none but himself.
    .
The best advice I would give to anyone is to just let him be. Live and let live. Let the sleeping dogs lie. Years ago when asked what he thought was best to do concerning Pa Adedibu in Ibadan, Obasanjo cleverly responded that the amala politics player was like a dry fish which must not be tampered with. If you tried to bend it, it would break. All of this will fade away naturally.
    .
For now, let’s allow this dry fish be. Don’t try to bend or straighten it because it could break. For now, we must accept that VDM is king of the social media space until he steps down for another. This is my candid opinion.
