Dangote Refinery Crashes Aviation Fuel Price

Dangote Refinery is currently selling Avation fuel at the price of 980 for one litre to Nigerian airlines and marketers.

Before now, it was selling for close to 2,000 naira per litre, and the reason given was the dollar.

Aviation fuel is an important cost component in the airline business eco system.

It gulpsĀ  at least 50% of the airline’s costs.

It is understandable when Nigerian airlines claim that the exhorbitant price of Avation fuel is the reason why Nigerians are paying 400k for a one-hour trip.

Some of us who understand unit economics understand their plight, even though I believe it is still astronomical.

Aliko Dangote has slashed the price of Avation fuel, just as he did with diesel.

And I just checked, and the prices of local flights are still expensive.

Dear Allen Onyema, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo of United Nigeria, Kunle Soname of Value Jet, and other airline owners in Nigeria

How far?

It is immoral, exploitativeĀ  and obscene that Nigerians are paying 400k for a one-hour flight in Nigeria.

We canā€™t complain that foreign airlines are exploiting Nigerians who want to travel abroad, but back home, the local airlines have turned themselves into cartels to exploit Nigerians because there is no other option than to fly with them.

This is a double standard and not good enough.

This is the time to show that these airline owners truly have Nigerians’ interests at heart.

Just as Allen Onyema made us believe during his fight with foreign airlines,.
