Yam is the staple food crop in Igbo land. Njọkụ is the deity in charge of yam in Igbo land. Successful yam farmers are called Di ji, Ezeji, etc. Yam is revered in Igbo land.
The king of all crops, you can fry it, boil it, pound it, roast it, mix it with veggies, make it porridge, in fact if there’s nothing at all, yam and oil alone can still sustain you from Monday to Monday 😒😋
