The Halleluyah Challenge Part 1

The Halleluyah Challenge Part 1
.
Joy Isi Bewaji, in her controversial Facebook post on the #HalleluyahChallenge raised some points I would like to address.
.
1. She said: ‘If I start a church today, it will succeed. Calling or no calling.
.
Madam it is not possible. A church is not the same as a gathering. There are many gatherings who bear the tag ‘church’, yet have no business being called a church. These gatherings have no purpose or assignment from Jesus who is the Head of the church. One day, they will face Him and show us where they got their calling.
.
Madam, It is true that you do not need a calling to start a gathering. However, if you have no mandate from the lord and you go to start a gathering in the name of a church, I give you five years, let’s see how you can hold out. When demon possessed folks come to you for deliverance to test you, let’s see how your ‘engrish’ will save you.
.
2. She said that the Hallelujah Challenge will change nothing in Nigeria.
.
Madam, the challenge was not created to solve Nigeria’s problems but to renew the love of many that has waxed cold  through worship. You should know that God does not deal with stem of a problem but the root. A man who is genuinely burning with God’s love will be on fire to impact his world positively in whatever field he finds himself.
.
3. She said that we have had too many spiritual revolutions. What we need is a mental one.

Excuse me, when last did we have a spiritual revival where the power of God came down? Have you heard of Azusa Street where the power of God came down on an entire city  through the prayers of some people and Hospitals and police stations closed down because people were healed on their beds and crime rates dropped drastically. Did you ever hear of Kathryn Kulman whose impact and prayers earned her an humanitarian award for contributing to a saner and crime reduced society?  No, I thought not.

We hear of Star treks, Glo Music Fest, The Voice, BBN, Coke Studio and the likes which offer no intellectual or spiritual impact on the viewers save for pleasure purposes. And sadly, people like you would swallow your opinions on the need for intellectual shows till when the slightest spiritual activity is mentioned, then you suddenly remember we need to have intellectual programmes. Well, the hypocrisy is not lost on me.
.
4, She said that religion is a feel good tablet. It makes us vulnerable, self-centred and clearly delusional. It attacks our rational and coherent capacity.
.
I disagree. The word of God is illumination that lightens up a man’s heart and soul. It gives direction to the clueless, hope to the hopeless, joy to the joyless and strength to the strengthless. I have said before and will repeat again. The problem with humanity is not religion but his entitlement mentality with his fellow man and even God.
.
No matter how much God wants to bless us and make us a great nation, if we do not trade his principles of purity, righteousness, diligence, integrity, consistency, justice, equity, equality, we are going nowhere. And like we always do we ask: ‘where was God?’ We have been waiting for God but he has since been waiting for us to wake up.

.
…to be continued…
