Tax Collection in Nigeria is Low – Bill Gates

During the Nutrivision 2024 conference in Abuja, Bill Gates, Co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, addressed the challenges of financing critical sectors like health and education in Nigeria.

He emphasized the need for increased tax collection, citing the country’s currently low rates.

Gates emphasized the importance of effective management of health program funds to build citizens trust in the government’s ability to deliver quality healthcare.

He highlighted the need for efficient primary Healthcare system with well-placed and adequately staffed centers.

Additionally, Gates expressed optimism about Nigeria’s potential to boost agricultural output, transitioning from a net food importer to a major food exporter.

He stressed the need for improved credit facilities, comprehensive soil surveys and effective advisory services for farmers.

Gate’s remark underscore the potential for Nigeria’s growth and development, emphasizing the importance of addressing tax collection rates, healthcare management and agricultural productivity to drive progress.
