Importation Is Killing Nigerian Economy

If half of the Igbo businessmen who import stuff decide to start setting up small factories to make some of the things they import even in small quantities, our GDP will rise and unemployment will drop.

If they should set up all those factories in the East, within 15 years things would be starkly different.

This is one reason, when the wahala with Erisco foods came up, I didn’t think twice before defending him.

Erisco is just one of the very few producing home grown paste with real tomatoes.

But simply because one ignorant Adanma somewhere chose to be silly, emotional Nigerians wanted them to shut down so they can continue consuming imported nonsense.

E no easy to run production business in Nigeria that’s why once Igbo man see few millions, na importation straight, because we generally don’t have that mental capacity and patience to plan and execute a production business.

This is why I maintain that floating the naira was the best option. Using money to suppress it’s madness all these years would have made sense if we needed it to import raw material for production, but we don’t product anything.
