I loved seeing Nicki Minaj’s ex, Safaree at her recent concert.
Although some fans think he was clout chasing by attending the second leg of her sold-out tour, I see it as changing the narrative of being scorned exes.
And I found that refreshing.
He could’ve attempted to minimize her significance all this while.
He could’ve tried to undermine her credibility, letting the world know he poured his creativity into her catalogue.
I mean, they were together for 12 years – not only was he her hype man, his writing credits are on some of her old songs.
Now her career is on a whole nother level and everything they possibly dreamed about while they were together manifesting beyond their imaginations, without him in the picture, that could hurt some men’s ego.
Despite the trajectory of her career rising upward, he was never spiteful.
He bought her tour ticket like every other fan and was seen vibing and rapping along during her performance.
Now while watching her do her thing, it may have crossed his mind that he would’ve been Kenneth.
The fact that another man is chiefly benefiting from the success he helped to build may have been unsettling.
Who wouldn’t have those thoughts?
Let’s not act like Safaree is just another dude.
Anyone who’s followed Nicki’s career knows he rode hard for her, he was her biggest fan. In fact, the first Barbz!
So yea, he probably did some reflections.
At the same time, it must have felt magical to see the seed he watered grow this big, witnessing the songs they experimented with ignite excitement.
It doesn’t matter whether Nicki ignored him in the audience or the shade she threw at him for attempting to steal her ‘peace’ with his presence – I’m team Safaree.
I want to believe going to the show and experiencing some of his visionary ideas come to life must have been fulfilling. For his own peace too.
You never know what makes people feel better!
He’s said this about Nicki, “We don’t have to be friends or cool. I am happy. I came to support her.”
