The Wigwe family has released six-day burial rites for their son, his wife Chizoba, and Herbert’s son Chizzy, who all died earlier this month.
As expected, Herbert’s personal parish, the church he loved so much and to whom he committed his personal resources, City of David parish, Victoria Island, Lagos, was excluded from the burial rites.
Pastor Siju Iluyomade and her husband, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade,are not invited to officiate in any of the burial rites.
Instead of City of David parish, another RCCG parish in Lekki, Resurrection Parish, located in Jakande Estate, Lekki, was picked by the family to host the combined service of songs.
This was not Wigwe’s personal RCCG parish, which he identified with, but it was picked over from City of David parish to pass a message.
It is important to note that a week before he died, Herbert Wigwe was at the City of David Church. As he always did.
That was his last Sunday church service on earth.
To dishonour his memory the way Pastor Siju did is very unfortunate and offensive , but I’m glad that the family did not allow her and the husband to get away with the disrespect to their son’s memory just like that.
A lesson for young people, myself inclusive.
The emotional intelligence that comes with being sensitive is important in this journey of greatness.
