My First Ride On The Lagos Blue Line

I took my first Lagos Blue Line train ride today. I must confess it is a beautiful thing the Lagos state government has done here. The stations are cool but the train is cooler.

It cost me N375 to ride from Marina to Mile 2 with a total time of 23 minutes. No cash payment, you have to pay with your Cowrie card, fortunately, I had one from last year when I boarded the Lagos BRT.

To top it, I boarded the last mile bus from Mile 2 to Ago for N150 and also paid with my Cowrie card. Keke for the same route charges N300.

I appreciate the efforts of the Lagos state government to transform the Lagos transport infrastructure. I encourage them to add more coaches as I hear the rides are overwhelmed at Mile 2 in the morning and Marina in the evening. I hope they will extend the stations to Okokomaiko as proposed in the shortest possible time and extend from Marina to Ajah if possible.

Other states should learn from Lagos and begin to make concerted efforts on transportation infrastructure before urbanisation makes it difficult and expensive. I also believe this is the only way to eliminate agberos and the source- NURTW and RTEAN
