Some days ago, a South African became bored and decided to order bolt rides in Nigeria and then cancel when the driver arrives at the destination he choose. He didn’t just do his boredom quietly, he had the temerity to post it online. Not once but twice. His fellow South Africans felt it was all fun and cruise and decided to make it a hobby and started ordering bolts in Nigeria then cancel. Yesterday, Nigerians living in Nigeria decided they need to return “aura for aura” and started ordering bolts in South Africa. Not just that, they extended it to ordering items and using a South Africa address as delivery place. So many South Africans made a post asking that it stops as they have received items they didn’t order. Are Nigerians stopping anytime soon, I don’t know until the day finally breaks today.
You see, in cases like this, we have people who condemned what Nigerians did and we had people in support. I didn’t join in the bolt ordering in South Africa but I will not fault Nigerians that joined. You don’t wake up in your country , become bored and decide to cause another country men who are hustling for their daily bread pain and expenses. Fuel is 950 naira a litre. That was what I bought yesterday. So, a full fledged man will buy 20 litres of fuel and then you decide to cure your boredom with his money.
Some said morality shouldn’t have made Nigerians retaliate and I ask, why didn’t we ask America not to retaliate when Iraq brought down 9/11? Why didn’t we ask Israel not to retaliate or read the morality acts when Gaza decided to move md? Why didn’t we tell them to be the bigger person? You may say that one is physical war but this is just cruise. No, it’s not cruise. It’s called economic sabotage and since we have a dcile government, Nigerians decided to fight back. With what happened in SA yesterday and their ride apps brought down, I believe they will not try such boredom curing next time. I also believe other countries will not become bored anytime soon. Nigerians have many unemployed, so retaliating boredom for boredom shouldn’t be see as bad.
When an offence is made, let’s ask the offender questions not question the retaliation of the offended. Like you all said, you can’t tell one how to respond to hurt. SA should stop getting bored. Other countries should avoid anything that will make them bored. The present government is already causing us enough boredom, do not add yours to it.
