INEC Dismisses Petition To Recall Senator Natasha

Now that INEC has thrown out the petition to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Senate, I want to highlight a problem we missed earlier. I have seen foolery and foolishness, and two days ago, I saw mpamaism. But the brand exhibited by the lady in green is undiluted iberiberism, which is number one on the kaikaiometer, the scale used for measuring kaikai behaviours.

Whoever gave her the funds to submit that petition needs a refund because basic Maths was a problem. You had time to pose in front of the camera like an Avenger but couldn’t invest a few minutes to read and crosscheck your numbers.

A petition to recall a Senator is expected to comply with Section 69(a) of the Nigerian constitution. It requires the signatures of more than one-half of the registered voters in the constituency. The number of voters in the Kogi Central Senatorial District is 474,554 on record. More than one-half of this figure (50%+1) is 237,277+1, which is at least 237,278 voters. You can see this is basic Maths abi? Oya carry camera come!

Across the Senatorial District of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, INEC ascertained 208,132 signatures from the submission made by the petitioners. This translates to 43.86% of the registered voters, which falls short of the constitutional requirement by 29,146 signatories.

Now that this matter has been put to rest, there should be a forensic investigation of those signatures. If there are any identified forgeries, the individuals should be brought to book for wasting the time of the commission and resources of Nigerians.

Those who paid for the recall to that woman should seek a refund, and if she refuses to pay, let them get VDM to wear his singlet and “Alright”.

I hope the Senate will also recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the current suspension and lay this matter to rest once and for all so she can continue serving her people.
