Imo State To Increase IGR Through Traffic Fines

With the completion of the ongoing junction improvement works in Owerri, Imo State Government can make tens of millions of naira per day from traffic fines.

I see huge opportunities to grow our IGR once Planet Projects is done.

If you study traffic fines as a key revenue source for government budgetary spending, you will discover that there are no fines in Nigeria generally.

The UAE generates billions of dollars as revenue from traffic offences. Abu Dhabi alone in 2017 issued over 4.6 million in traffic fines to motorists. This is figure according to Khaleej Times.

As a matter of fact, traffic fines adds far more in terms of public revenue than oil does for the DUBAI government. Oil represented just about 6% of their revenue in 2017.

Owerri and major cities in Nigeria are very fertile grounds for this kind of fines if properly managed. And we will have greater sanity.

The money will be flowing in millions.

A lot of money can be made from our lifestyle lawlessness.

Na to nab these people and exact fines on them. They’ll pay into the TSA.

N10,000 is not a bad fine for running traffic lights.

A lot of money can also be made from indiscriminate disposal of waste and filth, but I don’t want to discuss that today.

It is really not hard to knock sense into the heads of Nigerians.
