According to the good people at the Central Bank of Nigeria, henceforth, banks in Nigeria are mandated to collect their customers social media accounts, which the bank is expected to verify as part of KYC (Know your customer) before opening a new bank account for the customer.
So in case your bank calls you on the phone for your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts, the banks are doing that to be sure it is the same person and to verify that you are not a criminal, a person who is into money laundering or a Yahoo boy online.
Don’t be shocked; that’s what CBN tells them to do.
