On Cubana Chief Priest’s Debut Song ‘More Money’

First of all, let’s touch on Davido.
He keeps finding ways to demarket himself in terms of things he’s involved in.

His debut as an executive-producer should’ve never been a song like ‘More Money’ by pretend-singer Cubana Chief Priest.

Yes, we laugh, we play.
But then you draw the line on certain things that might undermine your legacy as a supposed 001.

Others on his level are focused on setting the bar high. They’re getting into international spaces, doing smart collabs.

Then when they check your music catalog, your producer credit is on a half-baked project by an imposter that cannot even perform his own song.

Phew!

As for CP, I knew he was going to hop on the ‘gyration’ sound believing that it’s a hit with the crowd – the Igbo people in particular.

But I’m here to tell him that gyration trendiness has expired.

Kcee, Flavour, Phyno, have sucked all the juice out of it.

And if you check the Nigerian music landscape, the boys are currently exploring new sounds and are surprisingly scoring hits (Shallipopi – Laho, Rema – Baby (Is it a crime), Ruger ft Tiwa Savage – Toma Toma, Kunmie – Arike).

Things are changing.

Most artistes that repeated the same tired formula in their singles flopped, including Davido.

The money-hype gyration songs were cute from 2022 – 2024, it has run its course.
If you say otherwise, then I can’t help your retrogression.

Furthermore, using BoyPee, Brown Joel, and Hyce to bring back an old flavour that’s closely reminiscent of their hit ‘Ogechi’ was a cheap attempt at getting a hit.

And it’s how those 3 flower boys are always used as crutches to help others walk.

I hope they’re well compensated for not having a legit moment of their own since they broke out. They had better get those feature songs money.

Finally, More Money is nothing but a pile of sh!t. I don’t see it being played anywhere that’s not being sponsored to play it.

The funniest part is how CP bragged that the project would prove to Burna Boy that he can equally be a big force in music.

Ihe ka owu ukwu nnama ji aga Umuahia?

Is this how you come at a real artiste?

Odogwu’s n@sty behaviour aside; anyone who thinks this clown is remotely a match for him needs help.

Music should never be reduced to an experiment by a person who sounds like they made their song over a plate of nkwobi and Odeku.
