In a continuation of the rivalry between Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, the Chelsea boss in their latest contest at Stamford Bridge edged the Portuguese in a most hard-fought battle of wits ,grits and legs between their two sides. The Italian fielded the returning midfield engine room-N’Golo Kante- who was all over the pitch either initiating the Chelsea attack or breaking up the Man U moves upfront. The French International provided the hard edge and bite Chelsea had lacked since he was sidelined nearly two months ago when he got injured while on international duty for France.thereby underlining his almost indispensable place in the Chelsea squad.
The new Chelsea signing,Alvaro Morata in a Man-of-the -Match performance gave good value for the hefty fee paid by Chelsea to secure his services via the wonderful and only goal of the tough contest scored by him, which David de Gea could do nothing about. His opposite number in the Man U colours,Romelu Lukaku was largely absent for much duration of the game, almost a spectator in the contest, neither providing threats going forward nor setting up teammates to score.
On the whole,it was a great game for which the fans had full value for their monies’ worth. For now Chelsea and Conte has the bragging rights over Manchester United and Mourinho. The rivalry continues as both managers refused to shake each other’s hands.
