Chidimma Adetshina Deserves Her Win

Take away the controversy surrounding Chidimma Adetshina’s Miss Universe Nigeria win, she’s the whole package.

When the other 24 contestants were revealed to us, it elicited laughs on social media for obvious reasons.

It didn’t use to be hard to count at least 8 or 10 fierce contenders for the crown.
But this year, I had a migraine while looking for that one girl with the aesthetics of a pageant queen.

Honestly, I felt like the standards for pageant competitions had been seriously watered down.

I don’t want to get into Miss Kwara and the whole body positivity thing.

Because then, people would want to be politically correct with the ‘beauty is subjective’ talk, knowing fully well that in the world of beauty pageants, there is a certain idealized standard of physical beauty that is often promoted!

The organisers might pretentiously throw in a thickie to create the impression of inclusiveness, still doesn’t mean she stands a chance in a pageant geared towards international accolades.

So yea, the girls didn’t bring it at all in my opinion.

Just one video that Chidimma made announcing her participation as Miss Taraba, the difference was clear.
If I didn’t know anything about her I would’ve picked her too!

People can cry foul all day, but you can’t take away that poise and regality she oozes.

“But the other girls worked harder than her”

Nobody is judging anything based on how you laboured. It’s a beauty pageant – you’re judged by your physical attractiveness.

Asides the fact that Chidimma is obviously a stunner, the chances of a girl with her kind of story advancing at international level are high.

Ben Murray-Bruce and his team went for the most marketable look to represent the pageant and its sponsors in the media.

Stop pretending like you care about the other girls, because some days ago the same Chidimma was the reason y’all went berserk on SA citiz£ns in the name of fighting for a rejected Nigerian.

Suddenly, Chidimma is not Nigerian enough to win.

If y’all don’t leave my baby alone…
