Very sad incident 😭😭😭
What will you do when you are down with a Covid 19 virus but before the virus came, you lost the wife of your youth with your two little angles to a mysterious fire inside your own house?
What will you also do when your favourite bible psalm which you recite daily is this: “those that trust in Got cannot be disgraced ” but before your very eyes, your wife and your only two kids died without any explanation?
This is the sad story of Abasiama idaresit
For Abas as his friends fondly calls him, not only that it rained, it poured.
Abasiama is one of the biggest inspirational figures that made me start Visage media as he runs one of the biggest advertising agency located in Ikoyi Lagos.
He was the pioneer of our industry and so he works with the best and biggest brands In Lagos from Lafarge cement to Uniliver Nigeria.
His story is quite inspirational as he started his business when some of us do not know what is digital advertising in 2007, he started his business with less than $250 and today,the business is worth over $6 million.
As his business revenue grew in leaps and bounds, Abas just like an upwardly mobile young man decided to relocate to Ikoyi.
He bought land in ikoyi and built a beautiful home in that highbrow area.
Since he is in the tech business, he spent good money just to be sure that the new house is a smart house where the doors and window are controlled by technology. Little did he know that the decision though a good one would cause the death of those that he loved so much.
Last year before Christmas, the central AC in the house developed a fault, since it was a smart AC, the technician that normally service it was summoned to look at it.
When the technician arrived, the kids were with their mother Dr Ijeoma Ejekam while Abas and the technician guy were trying to figure out what the fault was.
And alas! The AC thing sparked when the technician started working on it and fire broke upstairs where the two young girls and their mom were
The Mum wanted to run out with the kids but because they were living in a smart house, the doors and windows refused to open, they were automatically built to lock because it works with light.
Abas family that includes the wife and the two kids were trapped in the fire, yelling for help, pleading with their dad and husband to come and help and rescue them before they die but man was simply helpless because there was nothing he could do.
10 minutes later, the kids and the wife had gone quiet, apparently, they are dead.
Roasted to dead by the mysterious fire that no-one could pinpoint where the cause came from.
Abas heard his wife and kids cried to their death and that trauma is enough to break anybody.
The fire brigade showed up 20 minutes too late: by the time they managed to get upstairs to rescue the young family, it was too late.
The whole house was razed to the ground, Ijeoma and the kids died inside the house.
For all your money, Nigeria with its dysfunction will disappoint you when you did not see it coming.
So this is how Abas lost his young family because Nigeria failed him.
Abas favourite bible verse before that day was this:
“Those that believe in God cannot be disgraced” but for Abas, the reverse is the case, a situation that made some of his close friends to question the existence of God.
Abas was struck with Covid a few days after this harrowing experience, which compounded his misery and affected his mental health.
He has recovered from the virus but yesterday was Ijeoma’s birthday so he took to his social media handle to mourn the wife of his youth and his jewel of inestimable value.
Abasiama Idaresita’s sad experience reminds how vulnerable that we are in the face of life challenges, the mystery of this thing called life and how some decisions are truly out of our control but just like the scripture reminded us, our job is to trust and obey and also the foolishness of God is greater than the wisdom of men.
For Abasiama Idaresita, his life has changed forever and will never be the same again going forward.
