HMM.. From the reviews I’m seeing online, it seems mine will be a very unpopular opinion.
Trust me I watched the movie after reading so many reviews so I was really rooting for the movie.
Janiya was a woman overwhelmed with the shock of the death of her child the day before, that she snapped out of reality. The baby was a special child that needed close attention. This made Janiya work two jobs just to keep up. The baby’s drugs were also expensive. The weight of all that got to her. She had a serious mental breakdown after the child’s death.
Thank God for Detective Raymond and the Bank manager Nicole who were kind and supportive throughout the negotiation.
Well the message I got from the movie was pressures of life can get to you. There’s also a thin line between reality and being crazy. Humans should really be kind because you do not know what the other person is going through..
Also I’ll love to say no matter what you are going through, you have no right to k*ll anyone. You also have no right to point a g^n at someone even if you are rightfully demanding for your right.
ANALYSIS
Overall I will give the movie a 7/10 at best. The movie is a medium budget movie with little suspense, has some twists and very good actors.
Some grey areas:
1)You can’t lose your child the previous day and the landlord will still be so callous towards you for rent payment, that is borderline not realistic.
2) Also you can’t lose your child and go to work the next day and your colleagues will be acting all normal.
3) The bank manager said she knew she lost her child yesterday and couldn’t tell her or even tell the police when the negotiations were ongoing? It was obvious at this point that she had a mental breakdown. It is one very important point to mention to the police.
4) The child died in a hospital,when the police picked up her file, got her details, that is one information that was supposed to be top on the list among other information.
5) I am also wondering how with all the crime she committed, it got narrowed down to if they don’t provide the detective that said he will find legal means to deal with her she won’t surrender.
6) I feel the FBI chief wasn’t being realistic in his excessive insistence on use of force despite Janiya promising to surrender
Tyler Perry is really trying, let him keep it up.
In summary, the hype is more than the actual movie worth joor. The movie is ok not extraordinary. It just speaks to our emotions.
