Let’s talk about Mold in Houses – That Unwanted Black Stuff on Your Walls 👀
You see those black or greenish patches on walls, ceilings, especially around the bathroom or kitchen area? That’s mold. And no, it’s not just an “ugly stain” , it’s a sign that your home is practically begging for fresh air and proper care.

A Mold is a type of fungus that grows in damp, humid, and poorly ventilated spaces. It loves moisture like akara loves oil 😅. Once it finds a wet surface, it spreads quietly until one day, boom – your white wall starts turning to camouflage.
Aside from being an eyesore,
– It can cause serious health issues, especially for children, elderly people, and anyone with asthma or allergies. Think sneezing, coughing, skin irritation, and even breathing problems.
– It weakens your walls and paints, causing cracks, peeling, and damage to surfaces.
– It brings a musty smell that makes your beautiful home feel like an old, closed warehouse.
It can be caused by
– Poor ventilation (open those windows, please!)
– Leaky roofs or pipes
– Constant humidity – especially in bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry areas
– Wet clothes left indoors for too long (yes, this one too!)
– Flooding or water damage that wasn’t dried out properly
How to Deal With It?
1. Fix the source of moisture – no use cleaning mold if the water keeps coming back. Check your roof, pipes, bathroom tiles, etc.
2. Improve ventilation – open windows, use exhaust fans if you have, and let air move around.
3. Clean it off – use gloves and a face mask. Mix white vinegar or baking soda with water, spray on the moldy area, let it sit for a bit, scrub gently, then wipe clean.
4. Use anti-mold paint after cleaning, especially in mold-prone areas.
5. Call a professional – if the mold has spread or you’re reacting to it, don’t risk it. Let the experts handle it.
Don’t leave wet clothes or towels lying around for too long , that’s VIP invitation for mold 😅
