My years in Lagos, acquiring education at the Nigerian Institute of journalism (NIJ), Ikeja was hellish. Even to get an apartment was a very big problem. When I finally accepted all the too many conditions attached to my renting an apartment, I struggled to complete my course and quickly enrolled with the London School of Journalism very far removed from the city. The whole experience in the city wasn’t funny at all. My only saving grace was that I had a beautiful soul as a friend who made things easier but even at that, I was uncomfortable all through those year, for reasons not unconnected with my location and ancestry.
And this is why I was gladdened beyond word to physically visit the WEST AFRICAN BROADCAST AND MEDIA ACADEMY (WABMA), the very first of its kind in the Southeast and South South LOCATED IN ENUGU. In other words, if I want to take further Broadcast and Media courses, I would no longer have to travel to Lagos but can stay in Ala-Igbo (Enugu) to read the course.
To say that I am elated at this development would be an understatement.
